Update to this post… I just received an email from my local Dodge dealer stating the following:

DaimlerChrylser is pleased to announce a breakthrough summer sales campaign designed to help our customers experience the best of American and German engineering and design with our Chryler, Jeep, and Dodge vehicles. Beginning July 1, 2006, our customers can get Employee Pricing Plus 0% financing or cash allowance on 2006 Chrylser, Jeep, and most Dodge vehicles* as well as have the security of being able to return the vehicle within 30 days.**

*Excludes Dodge Sprinter, Viper SRT10, and Ram SRT10.
**Participating dealerships only.

It appears that free money (0% financing) and heavy discounts are back. So, if you are in the new truck buying mood, you may want to try that link below to know what the invoice really is.  Cool!

Dodge Diesel TruckIf you found this site because you are shopping for a Dodge truck, I discovered a website that will be of interest to new vehicle shoppers. You can get the invoice price and the base list price for Dodge Cars And Truck along with reviews and pictures. Check it out here.

Service contracts?

June 27, 2006

Just this morning I received an email from Dodge.com pitching their “Extended Warranty”. The emails read…

Give your Dodge Ram Pickup extended mechanical protection for the long road ahead.

Your Dodge is one of the toughest vehicles on the road. And it’s backed by a tough 3-year/36,000-mile “Basic” Warranty,* and in many cases, a 7-year/70,000-mile Powertrain Warranty. But if you’re planning on keeping your vehicle longer, or you want the peace of mind that comes with broader protection, then it’s time to consider a DaimlerChrysler Service Contract.

As you probably know, I’ve owned four Dodge trucks. As a testament to Dodge’s reliability, I have never had a serious problem with any of my trucks. In fact, other than an air conditioning switch problem, I have never had one issue that required a warranty claim. That by itself is a pretty strong testimonial for their products.

So, although this is my blog and I’m supposed to be creating the chatter, I’m asking for feedback from other Dodge owners regarding any experience with the extended warranty. What’s your opinion? If one plans on keeping a truck for 7-10 years or longer, is the extra warranty coverage worth the price? If anyone has an opinion, I’d love to know your thoughts. Thanks in advance. Tom

Thieves love Dodge too!

June 12, 2006

It appears that the reasons why we love our Dodge trucks are shared by the bad guys.  According to the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB®), the nation’s motor vehicle thieves also like our choice of vehicles.  The NICB® has compiled a list of the 10 vehicles most frequently reported stolen in the U.S. in 2004 and the 2003 Dodge Ram Pickup was #7 on their list.

Well, I for one am flattered that my choice in trucks is shared by so many others.  I guess the message here is… be careful out there.  Some people oogling your wheels may have more than a passing case of envy.  In almost forty years of driving, I've never had a vehicle stolen fortunately.  My prayer is that if this should ever happen, I just hope the dog hears the bad guy and my wife didn't move the gun.
